Right now, my focus is two-fold. Security first and foremost (constantly rotating complex passwords that can't be guessed, created via script) and secondly, content.

The goal is to have easily-searchable content that can be found by name, region, but most importantly, by the types of services the orgs, businesses, teams or individuals provide, and who they provide to.

In the past RAW only included non-profit organizations, with a handful of small exceptions.

Aggregate | Organize | Disseminate - Bring as much information to the table as possible, so veterans, caregivers, family members, survivors, spouses, widows, and those who want to support them or anyone in their circle, has a clear path to do so.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. I want to bring the suicide rate among service members and their warrior family down to 0.00%

Can I Donate?

We aren't there yet. Maybe one day the type of work being done here will require funding to carry it forward, but for the foreseeable future, we'll be doing just fine.

However, there are some fantastic organizations listed here. You should find one that speaks to you, and help where you can.

What Happened To The Old Website?

Hackers got it. Plain and simple. Wordpress is too easily exploited. Fortunately all of the orgs listed on RAW were saved in lists elsewhere, so while the website was lost, we have a way to move forward.

This time around I'm keeping backups of the website in a regular interval. Should the need arise to recover from another hacked website, it should be a simple matter. But again, all important information is saved elsewhere, so fret not. We will rebuild again, and again, each time stronger and better.

Every CMS has its vulnerabilities, but we're taking special precautions, and we aren't hampered by the security and performance flaws of a web host this time.

Self-Hosting means we have a whole new set of quirks to deal with. Have faith.

Helmets to Hardhats’ (H2H) mission is to help transition our military heroes into successful civilian careers in the building trades. 

The loss of a spouse, under any circumstances, is a tragic and life altering experience. In addition to their loss, military survivors face additional challenges. Amidst the grief that comes with a suffering a traumatic loss, survivors find themselves needing to make important and immediate decisions for themselves and their families in a rapidly changing environment. For survivors of Special Operations personnel, the grieving process can be further complicated as the complete details of their loved one’s death are sometimes unavailable due to the classified nature of the mission.

Warfighter Engaged is on a mission to reconnect disabled veterans with one of their favorite passtimes.

W.E. offers specialized modified controllers to make it possible for those with limb injury and amputations to enjoy gaming again. They recognize the positive impact video gaming can have on cognitive health, for PTSD and TBI.

Seeking to join those who faithfully served with their furry soul mates, Soldier's Best Friend works to adopt and provide training for veterans and service dogs, or therapeutic companion dogs.

With the goal of putting the resources veterans (and supporting entities / families / caregivers) need at their fingertips, we'll be chipping away at the current queue. The queue we have now is grandfathered from our previous site. Once that's done, we'll begin the process of cataloging and tagging all of the various features.

Once we've caught up with tagging, we'll begin building documentation, processes, and the reaching out to orgs and businesses who offer support, jobs, and resources for veterans and supporting entities.

Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon is constantly sending care packages downrange to our
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. We’ve been doing it since April 2003.
These packages improve morale and let our brave Americans know we are thinking about them and that their sacrifices far from home are not in vain.

We also provide assistance to wounded/recovering veterans with disabilities to help with their health (mental / physical) and healing journey. AASP may help pay for things the VA simply does not provide, or provide emergency assistance through one-time grants, thanks to our generous benefactors.

Boots to Business (B2B) is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by SBA as part of the Department of Defense's Transition Assistance Program (TAP). B2B provides participants with an overview of business ownership and is open to service members (including National Guard and Reserve) and military spouses.
