SOLDIERS AND CIVILIANS – TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS
Soldiers are trained to fight – and to survive. Civilians politely earn our successes. The stories that wounded heroes like Joshua and James share are too often observed at arm’s length, if at all. We feel uncomfortable – bound by genuinely felt compassion for a wounded Hero’s struggle – appreciative of their sacrifice, but too often blind to the inspiration of the courage they must call on to reclaim civilian lives. At Holidays for Heroes, we want to participate in rebuilding their worlds.
It is our mission and our responsibility to honor their sacrifice, to reciprocate their commitment, and to participate in a fellowship with our soldiers that proclaims we are proudly American.
