Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon is constantly sending care packages downrange to our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. We’ve been doing it since April 2003. These packages improve morale and let our brave Americans know we are thinking about them and that their sacrifices far from home are not in vain. We also provide assistance to wounded/recovering veterans with disabilities to help with their health (mental / physical) and healing journey. AASP may help pay for things the VA simply does not provide, or provide emergency assistance through one-time grants, thanks to our generous benefactors. The advocacy group Rolling Thunder®, Inc. / Rolling Thunder® Charities, Inc. supports U.S. Military Active Duty, Veterans, Prisoners Of War, and Personnel Missing In Action from past wars. The loss of a spouse, under any circumstances, is a tragic and life altering experience. In addition to their loss, military survivors face additional challenges. Amidst the grief that comes with a suffering a traumatic loss, survivors find themselves needing to make important and immediate decisions for themselves and their families in a rapidly changing environment. For survivors of Special Operations personnel, the grieving process can be further complicated as the complete details of their loved one’s death are sometimes unavailable due to the classified nature of the mission.

Military service means complete commitment to something larger than one’s self, selflessly bearing the responsibility for the security of everything we hold dear in the United States. Soldiers’ Angels’ purpose is to honor that. Our global network of volunteers — representing all 50 states, Washington DC, and 31 countries abroad — work to ensure that those who serve or have served are supported, uplifted, and remembered through a variety of support programs.

Seeking to join those who faithfully served with their furry soul mates, Soldier's Best Friend works to adopt and provide training for veterans and service dogs, or therapeutic companion dogs.

After losing friends and fellow service members to suicide, Army veterans, Brian Kinsella, Nick Black, and Craig Gridelli were determined to create a solution for their fellow veterans who were struggling. For them, military suicide isn’t just a problem. It’s personal. It was clear that something had to be done - proactively - to get their brothers and sisters in arms the help they needed and reduce the number of service members and veterans lost to suicide. Through their experiences, they realized that the key to preventing suicide is to identify, understand, and address the underlying issues — things like financial strain, post-traumatic stress and other mental health issues, and difficulties navigating the transition from military to civilian — BEFORE they escalate to a point of crisis. The problem is clear: The systems in place aren’t working. Getting help isn’t as easy as it should be — and trying to navigate a complicated maze of organizations and resources can be overwhelming when you’re in crisis. Stop Soldier Suicide was built to change that.

TAPS provides peer-to-peer support to those grieving the loss of loved ones who served. TAPS programs provide support and the tools that can be invaluable to those who experience loss.

Since 9/11, we have been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. OUR VISION The Military Veteran Project has a vision to decrease military suicides with a goal to end military suicide as we know it through research. We need to get to root of the issue, the brain. With veterans returning home after war with minimal decompression or rehabilitation time, veterans and military families are left trying to cope with the traumatic combat events. Flashbacks, hypersensitivity, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, & insomnia are only a few of the symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress, while veterans and active duty service members are fighting a new war within themselves on American soil, government agencies like the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration are facing cutbacks, furloughs and limited on treatment options. 2/3 of veterans suffering with symptoms are being treated with prescription drugs, while the other 1/3 refuse to seeks medical assistance. OUR GOAL Our overall goal is complete treatments through research study of 1,000 veterans to decrease military suicide. Veterans are fighting for freedoms on foreign soil but unable use that mere freedom when they return home, we know we can give them their freedom back. We are able to use SPECT imaging to see the relative blood flow through the brain, to better understand what type of treatments they need. Hyper activity in the brain may be associated with PTSD, while minimal, low activity may be associated with TBI, these two symptoms should not be treated the same and need separate treatments.
